Admissions
To enrol in the Masters in Molecular Life Sciences course you need a Bachelors degree in the Life Sciences or equivalent. If you are a recent graduate, you can take the full-time course; if you are a professional working in the field, you can take the part-time course and combine it with your work. The full-time course is also suitable for international students that cannot combine the course with their current job.
Degree requirement
You will be admitted to the course if you have one of the following:
- a Bachelor of Applied Sciences (Life Sciences/Higher Laboratory Education)
- a Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences or comparable disciplines)
If you have a different degree, you can take part in an admission assessment to prove that you have relevant Bachelors-level qualifications. For more information on the admission assessment, please refer to the document ’Admission procedure for applicants without a Bachelor degree’ on the right-hand side of this page.
Additional requirements
Language qualification
You have one of the following:
- TOEFL iBT score of 90 or higher
- IELTS score of 6.5 or higher
- Cambridge Certificate (CAE or CPE)
Professional experience
You need laboratory research experience of at least 5 months to enrol in this course. You acquired this experience during your internships or work experience.
Full-time
The full-time programme is especially suited for you if you have just graduated or will soon graduate with a Bachelors degree, and/or if you are an international student without a workplace within about 400 km from Nijmegen. You will combine the theoretical programme of the course with an extensive internship placement at a company.
An internship placement position is a condition for taking the course. We will collaborate with the business world to create work placement positions and select the most suitable students. You can also join the course if you can organise an internship placement position for yourself for the entire duration of the course.
Part-time
If you have a job in the field and are able to come to Nijmegen one day every fortnight, you can combine it with the part-time version of this course. In addition to the theoretical programme, you will complete various assignments, such as running a project geared to your company’s needs.
The extent and level of your work experience will determine whether you already possess competences that can exempt you from certain educational activities. This will be assessed through an exam taken independently of the standard programme for elements of the following modules: Research and Product Development Skills and Project Management.
To this end, you will submit various documents, such as a letter of recommendation from your manager or a scientific report you have written. An intake interview will also be part of this process.
