How to pay

Do you have a Dutch checking account? You’ll be directed to your own banking environment for issuing your digital direct debit authorization.

Do you have a checking account in the SEPA area? Then in many cases you can issue a digital direct debit authorization in Studielink using that account. 

Are you from an EU country outside the euro area? Then you cannot issue a digital direct debit authorization in Studielink using your bank account in your home country. 

You have 2 options:

1. Open a Dutch checking account and then issue a digital direct debit authorization through Studielink.
2. Transfer the full amount of your tuition fees to the HAN bank account:

EU/EEA students 

It’s best to pay your tuition fees or organize a digital payment authorization before 1 August. Officially you have until 31 August to do this. Only when all admission requirements are met on time, including tuition fee payment, will you have access to the educational facilities. Haven’t paid yet or organized your digital payment authorization? Then you may receive emails from us reminding you to pay your tuition fees. 

Non-EU/EEA students 

You need to pay the tuition fees (part of the Financial Guarantee) before 1 June for the September start and before 1 November for the February start.

Yes. Complete and sign the Change of Payment Details Form (PDF) and send it to cicdesk@han.nl. Please note the following:

• Change bank account number: Please make sure we receive your form before the first day of the month in which you'd like the change to take effect.  
• Change payment method from installments to a single payment: Please make sure we receive your form before the first day of the month in which you'd like the change to take effect. Also: if one or more installments have been paid, you will not be reimbursed for the administration costs.  
• Change payment method from a single payment to installments: This change is not possible until the following academic year when you re-enroll via Studielink.

That depends on your situation. Do you owe statutory tuition fees* at both HAN and another institution? Then you don't have to pay tuition fees twice. You can request Proof of Paid Tuition Fees (BBC) from the university of applied sciences or university where you have been enrolled the longest. In all other cases, you have to pay tuition fees at both institutions. 

* Statutory tuition fees are the fees charged to EU/EEA nationals, Swiss and Surinamese nationals

You can request Proof of Paid Tuition Fees (BBC) digitally through Studielink under certain conditions. These conditions are:

1. You are eligible for the statutory tuition fees*
2. You have already paid tuition fees at the institution where you are applying for the BBC. Either by issuing a (digital) payment authorization or directly transferring the tuition fees in one go
3. The institution where you are enrolling for a 2nd program uses the Digital BBC service through Studielink

* Statutory tuition fees are the fees charged to EU/EEA nationals, Swiss and Surinamese nationals

Once you receive a payment request from Studielink, you can either issue a digital authorization or pay with a Proof of Paid Tuition Fees (BBC). Go to Step-by-step plans (studielink.nl) to find out how to pay with a BBC. HAN will automatically get notice of this.

Not possible to request a digital BBC via Studielink? Send your request via email to sia@han.nl. Please include the following: 

• Your name
• Your HAN student number 
• The name of the institution for which you need the BBC

2. Someone else with a bank account from an EU country in the euro area issues the authorization for you, until you have a Dutch bank account yourself. Indicate in Studielink that someone else will pay your tuition fees. The other person must then confirm the digital (direct debit) authorization. You don't have to do that yourself.
   
   This is how you get the digital authorization confirmed:

• You received an email with a payment link. Forward that email with the payment link to the person issuing the authorization for you, so they can sign it.
• The person clicks on the link in the email and confirms the payment details.
• You’ll receive an email once the other person has confirmed the authorization.
• Studielink sends the authorization to HAN.

As soon as you have a Dutch bank account, send an email to CICdesk@han.nl. State your name and student number and ask for a Change of Payment Details form. Complete and sign the form, save it as a pdf file, then send it back to CICdesk@han.nl. They will update the authorization to your account number. As of the next direct debit, the tuition fees will be deducted from your bank account.

As a student you have the right to quit your studies at any time without giving a reason. Just submit a request for termination of enrollment on Studielink.

Enrollment can only be terminated as of the 1st of the following month (or a later month which you can indicate in Studielink). You can’t retroactively terminate your enrollment. Once you terminate your enrollment, you’re entitled to a refund. The amount is 1/12th of the total tuition fees for each remaining month. There is an exception though. Are you terminating your enrollment as of July or August? Then you are not entitled to any refund of paid tuition fees.

No, you can only pay in installments after submitting a digital payment authorization form in Studielink. If you do not or cannot submit a digital payment authorization form in Studielink and choose instead to transfer the payment directly to HAN, the entire tuition fee amount must be paid in a single transaction. 

Submit your digital payment authorization on Studielink at least 10 days before your degree program starts. Then you can be sure you have access to all HAN facilities when you start your program. 

You can use the mobile version of Studielink to enter your payment details. But you can only confirm the digital payment authorization with the desktop version. Problems entering or confirming your payment details? Use the regular desktop version. 

Applicants: This To-Do item will become visible in your Studielink account after you receive a notification on  the My Application  portal that you can enter your payment details. Students: This To-Do item will be visible after you submit your re-enrollment request in Studielink for the new academic year. 

What if you don’t see a To-Do item for entering your payment details in Studielink? Even though the status on the  My Application  portal says the item is ready or because you submitted your re-enrollment request at least one business day ago? Contact us at  cicdesk@han.nl and be sure to state your name and student number. 

Studielink will add a new To-Do item to your list the following day, which you can use to enter your payment details. Still don’t see a new To-Do item in your Studielink after 24 hours? Contact the Tuition Fees Administration by email at  cicdesk@han.nl .

A. Go to  Studielink  and click on <My study programme>. Then click on the relevant degree program to change your payment details.  
B. Under the tab <Payment details> you'll see the button <Change payment method>.  
C. This will take you to the <Change payment details> environment. There you can edit your details. You can change the payment method, the payment terms, the person who will pay the tuition fees and information about the account holder. 

Not able to edit this information in your Studielink account? Then complete and sign the Change of Payment Details Form (PDF) and send it to cicdesk@han.nl.

A. You want to edit your IBAN/BIC or account holder details? Request a "Change of payment details" form from the Tuition Fees Administration by sending an email to  cicdesk@han.nl. 

B. Want to change your payment method? Either single payment or installments? Read the conditions below. You meet these conditions? Then request a "Change payment details" form from the Tuition Fees Administration by sending an email to  cicdesk@han.nl.  

i. From installments to a single payment: make sure we receive your "Change payment details" form before the first day of the month in which you'd like the change to take effect. Please note: If one or more installments have been paid, you will not be reimbursed for the administration costs. 

ii. From a single payment to installments: Please note: This is only possible if we receive your "Change payment details" form before the first day of the month in which your degree program is scheduled to start. Already started your degree program? You can only change your payment method in Studielink after re-enrolling for your program the following academic year. 

As a student, you are responsible for paying your tuition fees. This means you are also responsible for submitting the digital payment authorization form in Studielink. This is part of the enrollment conditions. 

Please note: HAN does not issue invoices. 

Ask your employer to transfer the tuition amount to you so it can be deducted from your bank account. Your employer can also transfer the amount directly to:

Submit the digital authorization form in Studielink by selecting the option "I'm paying the fees myself". This ensures you meet the enrollment conditions ("payment of tuition fees"). 

As soon as you’re enrolled on  the My Application portal, you can request proof of enrollment from the Enquiry Desk. Use this proof to declare the costs with your employer. Has your employer transferred the tuition amount before the first day of the month in which your degree program is scheduled to start? Your digital payment authorization will be cancelled and the tuition fees will no longer be deducted from your account. 
 

If you'd like to pay the full tuition amount for the current academic year (paying in installments is not possible), you can transfer the amount to:

You can arrange for someone else to pay your tuition fees for you. Go to Studielink and click on "Who is paying the tuition fees = Someone else". You will receive an email with a link. Send this link to the person who will pay your tuition fees. They can use the link to enter their payment details so that the tuition fees can be deducted from their bank account. Please note that the bank account must be from an EU country in the euro area.

Would you like to pay your own tuition fees after you turn 18? Request a "Change payment details" form from the Tuition Fees Administration by sending an email to cicdesk@han.nl. Complete and sign this form, save it as a pdf file, and mail it back. They will change the authorization to your account number. As of the next direct debit, the tuition fees will be deducted from your bank account.
