Career prospects

Graduates of HAN's Masters course Information Systems Development have excellent international career prospects. Economic forecasts for the Netherlands indicate shortages of 10,000 information systems developers for the period 2011-2015. The demand for qualified information system developers is also high in the USA and in Asian countries such as Indonesia, China, Malaysia and Vietnam. African countries and South-America are also developing rapidly in this field.

Large segment of the ICT industry

Information systems development accounts for about 35% of all ICT investments in the Netherlands. This is a global trend. For example, Gartner forecasts that revenue from sales of master data management software will increase with 21% from 2011 to 2012. Furthermore, they predict that two-thirds of Fortune 1000 organisations will have deployed 2 or more master data management solutions to support their enterprise master data management strategy by 2014.

In this large segment of the ICT industry, Masters graduates have excellent career prospects. In his 2012 State of the Union address, President Obama referred to data management as a skill that businesses are looking for right now.
