Create a Rich Internet Application
This exchange course introduces you to the world of Rich Internet Applications (RIA). These applications are much more exciting than everyday Internet pages with their simple text fields, pictures and buttons. During the course, you will focus on subjects such as user task analysis, interaction design, usability, and validation using prototypes.
Visual or technical
Depending on your background, you will learn more about either the visual or technical aspects of Internet applications. Visual aspects include mental models, navigation structures and widget design, while technical aspects include DHTML, JavaScript, AJAX, UI frameworks, adaptive UI and XML.
Course outline
The exchange course consists of 2 subjects in the 1st half of the semester and a project in the 2nd half of the semester. Your choice of subjects in the 1st half of the semester depends on your prior education.
If you have a background in IT, Informatics or Computer Science, you will follow the subjects Interaction Design and Web Technology. If your background is in Media & Communication, you will follow the subjects Interaction Design and Visual Screen Design.
Autumn and spring semesters
The exchange course can be followed in the autumn semester (September to January) or the spring semester (February to June).
Shorter course
If you wish to follow a shorter course, you may register for 1 or 2 of the following subjects: Interaction Design, Visual Screen Design and Web Technology. Please note that if you want to participate in the Rich Internet Project, you have to complete the entire course (30 ECTS credits).
Certificate
When you have successfully completed the course, you will receive a certificate showing the ECTS credits you have earned.
