Course overview
Life Sciences at HAN University of Applied Sciences is a hands-on Bachelors course that is taught in English and takes four years to complete. During your study you gain theoretical knowledge, but you also spend more than half of your time doing practical work. So when you graduate, you are well prepared for the job market.
Orientation
The 1st year is an orientation in the life sciences: you learn the fundamental theories and lab techniques. You apply your new knowledge in small group projects dealing with actual problems in the life sciences. These projects help you to develop your problem-solving and communication skills. They also give you insight into current issues that are relevant to professional practice.
Increasing independence
Over the next 3 years, as you broaden your knowledge and sharpen your analytical skills, you will learn with increasing independence. You participate in projects that are ever more complex. You also complete a work placement, an elective module and an independent graduation assignment. For the assignment you have to plan and conduct your own experiments. You then present your results in a professional manner, for example in a final report to your project advisors or in a presentation.
