Secondary education

To be admitted you need a certificate of secondary education such as:

• Havo / vwo: subject requirements see 'For Dutch students only: Toelating havodiploma en Toelating Vwo-diploma'
• MBO (level 4)
• International Baccalaureate
• Arbitur or Fachhochschulreife
• High school, A or B grades
• Sekolah Menegah Atas (SMA)
• General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE - A level)

As well as having one of the above certificates, you need sufficient scores in English, mathematics, economics and a foreign language.

Fluency in English

A sufficient level of fluency in English is a prerequisite for admission to this course, for example:

• An IELTS score of at least 6.0 or
• A TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based) or 79-80 (Internet based)
• A Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Proficiency of English (CPE)

Please note: if you take a TOEFL test and you are a non-European Union student, you will also have to take a TOEFL test of Spoken English with a minimum score of 50.

Languages

French starts at intermediate level and requires 'faux débutant', which means approximately 2 to 3 years of previous training. German starts at intermediate level. To join the intermediate level group, you need 'Grundstufe', which means approximately 2 to 3 years of previous training. Dutch and Spanish start at beginners' level.

1st year course exemptions

If you have already studied subjects related to this course at another institute of higher education, you may be eligible for exemption from the 1st year. In this case you will be admitted directly into the 2nd year of the course, and will graduate in less than 4 years. To qualify for direct admission to the 2nd year, you must meet the following requirements:

1. A good command of both written and spoken English, over and above the ability to follow the lectures successfully, i.e.: 

• An IELTS score of at least 6.5
• A TOEFL score of at least 575 (paper based), 232 (computer based) or 90-91(Internet based). If you are a non-European Union student, you will also have to take a TOEFL test of Spoken English with a minimum score of 50.
• A Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Proficiency of English (CPE)

2. More than one successfully completed year of higher education, with subjects in business, management, logistics, finance or communication.

For Dutch students only

With the profile 'Economie & Maatschappij' (E&M), you are permitted to do the course International Business and Management Studies. If you choose another profile, then you need to follow an extra elective subject or subjects. Refer to the table below to see what applies to your situation.
