Joop Pauwelussen professor Mobility Technology

Joop Pauwelussen is currently professor (lector) in Mobility Technology at the HAN University of Applied Sciences.

Joop Pauwelussen received his MSc degree (Cum Laude) in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics from the Eindhoven University of Technology in 1977. In 1981, he received a PhD degree from the Universty of Leiden on a subject in the field of nonlinear reaction diffusion problems with application in the neurophysiology and population genetics.

From 1981 until 1982, he was group leader at Neratoom BV, working and supervising in approval analysis for the delivery of pumps, heat exchangers and superheaters for a fast breeder reactor.

From 1982 until 1985, he was a senior engineer at Pisces International, involved as a consultant in the design of on-shore and off-shore plants for gas dehydration.

From 1985 to 2002, he was working at the Dutch research organisation TNO, first as a research associate with focus in fluid-structure analysis and underwater shock impact of naval vessels, and from 1988 on as manager Vehicle Dynamics with a strong focus on tyre and vehicle handling (e.g. initiating the Delft-Tyre product), vehicle-driver interfacing and chassis control.

From 1998 until 2002, he combined this position with a part-time professorship in Vehicle technology at the Delft University of Technology, with emphasis on modelling of the pneumatic tyre and its impact on vehicle behaviour, and intelligent vehicle concepts.

Since 2002, he is a full-time professor in Mobility Technology at the HAN University of Arnhem, the Netherlands. Research focus is on the performance of vehicle and vehicle components, in relationship to handling and comfort, by application of active control measures and advanced driver support.
