Research Groups

HAN Automotive Institute consists of:

Degree courses in Automotive Engineering at Bachelor and Master level, well known in the Netherlands under the name HTS-Autotechniek, Automotive Research and a well-equipped Applied Research Laboratory Automotive (ARL-A).

In the area of automotive engineering, HAN University of Applied Sciences has the following research groups: Mobility Technology, Prof. Joop Pauwelussen

This research group is aimed at the improvement of the performance of vehicle and vehicle components, in relationship to handling and comfort, by application of active control measures and advanced driver support. Special emphasis is given to the vehicle-road interface (tyre behaviour), heavy articulated vehicles, and the understanding of the human driver in monitoring and controlling the vehicle.

Vehicle Mechatronics, Prof. Bram Veenhuizen

This research group is focused on the technological aspects of sustainable mobility and energy management, with special emphasis on advanced vehicle propulsion developments. Focus is on the application of alternative fuels (mainly hydrogen), and the realisation of electric and hybrid drive systems, especially those based on fuel cell technology.

World Class Manufacturing/Lean (in preparation), Prof. Vincent Wiegel

This research group (in preparation) will focus on the process aspects of product development in the automotive branch, with special emphasis on the turnaround and cost reduction of the design process, the balance in design decisions with respect to the seemingly conflicting requirements related to cost and sustainability, and the contribution to the improved production process.
