Hydrogen test laboratory
Hydrogen is a promising future power source for automotive applications. It can be used in internal combustion engines, but applied in a hydrogen fuel cell system, it provides the ultimate way of achieving local zero emission. With a fuel cell the only emission is water and heat.
Fuel cell systems
Fuel cells combined with power storage devices such as batteries or super capacitors and intelligent power converters form a hybrid power solution for mobile applications.
To acquire knowledge about the function and behaviour of fuel cell systems and fuel cell hybrid drive trains, the Hydrogen test laboratory was built. In this laboratory we can test and develop fuel cell systems from 1 to 25 kW and hybrid drive trains.
H2 sensors and ventilation system
The lab is equipped with H2 sensors and a ventilation system according to the latest safety standards.
Measuring options

- Dynamic system behaviour
- Opportunity to test complete drive trains from fuel cell through power converters and energy storage to electromotor.
The first project is the design and realisation of a fuel cell based forklift truck. The aim is to make a compact 8 kW fuel cell system based on an existing stationary unit. Also power conversion and power management will be part of the project.
