PhD position at Oxford for Life Sciences student
Fourth-year student Pramila Rijal from HAN’s international course in Life Sciences has been awarded the NDM Prize Studentship. In doing so, she has acquired a PhD position at the Weatherall Institution of Molecular Medicine at Oxford University.
After graduating, Pramila will begin immunology research under the guidance of Prof. Alain Townsend.
Originally from Nepal, Primila Rijal has been studying Life Sciences, HAN’s English-taught course in the area of biochemistry, since 2008. For her graduation project, she obtained a position in the laboratory of the Weatherall Institution of Molecular Medicine, part of Oxford University.
Impressed
Since September she has been carrying out research into isolation and characterisation of human monoclonal antibodies against influenza A virus (flu). Her supervisor and colleagues in the lab were so impressed by Pramila’s achievements, that they encouraged her to apply for the NDM Prize Studentship.
Pramila Rijal: ‘My supervisor and lab members helped me a lot to prepare the presentation. I am really glad to be working in this lab. It's such a rare opportunity for me!’
